Senior Mine Production Engineer
The purpose of this role is to take the full responsibility of all drill and blast activities on the mine and ensure that other production related plans are carried out as scheduled. The successful applicant will report to the Technical Services Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities: Provide technical liaison between Mine Operations and Engineering Planners.
Monitor blast variations and emissions to ensure compliance with the national and best practice guidelines.
Approve blast designs before blasting, track cost and blast improvement parameters.
Champion all drill and blast reconciliation with the mining contractors periodically.
Liaise with grade control to ensure minimum dilution during blasting and provide inputs into blast movement measurement.
Manage the explosive magazine in liaison with the explosive and mining contractor in line with the regulations.
Manage inventory of explosives and explosive manufacturing products and advise the Mine Operations Manager accordingly.
Optimise and monitor ore fragmentation to ensure downstream cost saving.
Champion the mine to mill optimisation process of the Mining Department.
Asist in the preparation of the sections’ annual budget.
Formulate and implement pit wall control procedures.
Liaise with the Geotechnical Engineers to ensure that pre –splits are effective.
Make improvements and optimise production where possible.
Develop and introduce systems to maximize daily production of trucks, shovels, drills and other mine support equipment.
Find opportunities for cost savings while maintaining budgeted production tonnes and grade.
