We are seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of a Senior Research Manager- Brands and Advertising. Job Purpose To provide commercial and technical leadership to the brand and Advertising research business unit, leveraging global resources, knowledge and capabilities to maximise local opportunities for continued growth within the respective market. The overall leader for a department including: • Business Unit P&L responsibility and management. • Strategic business planning for the business unit, aligned with global and country vision and goals • Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of the respective research business unit • Determining business development strategies for the target clients and market and active involvement in and contribution to the local and international business development. • Ensuring technical excellence in the product portfolio and research methodologies • Full responsibility for business unit people management. • External representation of the company as approved by the Country Manager, aligned with Country branding, positioning, marketing and communication to both the client & talent market. Essential Responsibilities and Deliverables Business growth, profitability & Financial Management • Overall responsibility for meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual gross profit and operating profit targets for the designated business unit. • Shared responsibility for annual business plan and budget of the unit • Continuous monitoring of performance vs. budget to assure business unit expenditures remains within set budget, obtaining appropriate approval of all overages. Reporting • To prepare accurate and insightful reports on monthly basis • To ensure that the KPIs’ for your department are relevant and can be measured over time - the data used must be up to date and accurate • To provide weekly accurate updates on Revenue, proposals and debt collections • Providing a quarterly report detailing the progress of the department’s annual strategy implementation Monthly KPIs compliance To attain the minimum standards as per the KPIs indicated below. The KPIs to be submitted in the standardized template; • Debt collection – 100% of target • Revenue – 100% of target • Average Invoicing amount – 90% of monthly revenue • Proposal Creation Compliance (as per symphony reports) – in line with top quartile countries • Job Closing compliance ( as per symphony) in line with top quartile countries • Quality (no. of quality issues as reported by clients) – target of zero Sales & Marketing • Set and implement local business development(BD) strategies, distinguishing between New Business Development and Key Account Management. • Identify and develop local business opportunities for significant growth within the business unit, leveraging and building on the global knowledge, capabilities and resources and partnering teams and functions. • Implement and manage a client and sales oriented focus in the business, setting the example with direct client involvement and leadership/attendance of the BD/sales meeting • Actively monitor, manage and improve client satisfaction and loyalty. • Manage the use of the (internal) pricing tools approved by Ipsos globally as the sole pricing tool for intercompany costing/pricing. Leadership • Provide a role model for staff in terms of own professional and personal approach to work • Adopt and develop a management style aligned with the style of the “Ipsos Leader”, aligned with Ipsos’ s vision and keeping an open view for continuous improvement. • Develop a clear vision of the business unit goals in driving results • Build relationships with staff, establish rapport, trust and credibility with direct reports. • Evaluate the existing team members to determine the level of future contributions. • Manage all activities of assigned staff to include strategy, training and development and performance review. • Maintain clarity about the company’s Visions and Values and facilitate communication between all key departments/offices. • Mentor and develop staff to ensure their education in all aspects of Ipsos content, products, services and intellectual property law. Technical Research Role • To advise on the interpretation of findings and the planning of presentations/deliverables • To add value to all deliverables • To provide solutions expertise from a design, analysis and an interpretive perspective • To ensure that research offerings are up to date, innovative and competitive • Drive the culture of integrating information from multiple sources to offer clients a differentiated offering Project Management • Ensuring that the Research staff in the Business Unit complete all steps in the research process on time and to the expected quality standards. • Skills transfer to, and supervision of, Research Team. • Input into research tools, and final checking of: samples, questionnaires, report templates, analysis plans, focus group/IDI topic guides, analysis templates and presentations. • Day to day client liaison in terms of queries and project status. • Manage own projects profitably Business Unit Management • Adopt continuous succession planning for all key functions in the unit. • Direct and coordinate activities of the business unit on daily basis • Take responsibility for the staff professional development, takes care in order to actively grow skills and experience within the team. • Monitors performance and conducts performance appraisals of staff • Inspire, engage, motivate team, decreasing attrition rate • Authority to pose sanctions for gross negligence and inattention • Communicates periodically with the team on achievements/ shortfalls of the KPI, action plans, various decisions to be implemented, changes in the organization etc • Determine staffing requirements, interview, and recommend the hire of new employees Other responsibilities • Member of the Senior Management Team for planning Company initiatives and growth of business • Permanently extends research knowledge, project management related knowledge, sales capabilities, leadership capabilities, etc. • Build Business Intelligence knowledge of the research market; examine market trends, competitors' moves • Contribute to company learning’s • Support the Company Marketing and Communications activities Qualification • Relevant Bachelor’s degree • Advanced degree or professional qualification preferred. • Minimum of 5 years’ research in Brand and Advertising research with at least 3 years’ prior management experience. Knowledge & Skill • Thorough knowledge and a complete understanding of and Brands and Advertising market research principles and techniques. • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, guide and motivate executive and management teams. • Ability to make sound and rational judgments and decisions. • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business clients. • Experience of financial management in building a business and managing a P&L.
