Newmont Mining Corporation on Tuesday announced a change of its global operation system known as the ELLIPSE to an integrated business management software system “SAP†from February 4, 2013.
The SAP software is expected to help the Newmont to achieve greater operational efficiency, a statement signed by Simon Blamires, Global Supply Management Director for African to the Ghana News Agency in Accra stated.
The statement said as part of the implementation, Newmont would be using the SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) solution for eBusiness, which would provide online functionality for participating in Newmont Request for Quotes (RFx and Live Auction) and Goods.
It said all decisions to formally source or conduct competitive bid events (RFx/Live Auction) would be conducted by a nominated Newmont Buyer Representative and be managed in SAP SRM.
The statement said bidders (current, qualified suppliers) would be reviewed and added to each individual sourcing and bid event in accordance with the company’s sourcing policy and strategy.
"Newmont will no longer invite suppliers to participate in sourcing events via fax or email. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Newmont Buyer Representative accept RFQ responses outside of the SAP SRM solution", it added.
The statement said suppliers would receive an email once added to a Newmont RF or Live Auction event, which would include unique supplier user identification and password for logging into SRM solution.
"They will also receive instruction on how to establish supplier administration settings, how to participate in and complete an RFx/Live Auction and a PDF copy of the RFx and Newmont Support Information", it said.
The statement said Newmont Ghana would continue to manually process procurement requirements until February 4th.
It said benefits to suppliers under the new system would include provision and receipt of purchase order or change order transmission, advanced shipping notification, goods receipt notification, service confirmation and e-invoicing.
The statement said, "If you are conducting business with Newmont and are interested in implementing the end to end P2P document collaboration, please contact your Newmont Buyer Representative for more information".
