The Mfantseman Municipal Coordinator of the national Disaster management Organisation, (NADMO), Mr. Felix Quansah has appealed to the Management of Ghana Commercial Bank to relocate the Saltpond Branch to save it from the annual ritual of flooding.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Saltpond, Mr. Quansah expressed concern about the floods the bank had to endure every year because its rented premise was sited on a water course.
He said NADMO was concerned because of the banks contributions to the development of the municipality.
The NADMO Coordinator said last year floods destroyed some property of the bank leading to heavy loss to the financial institutions.
"Workers used three days to tidy-up the place during that time the bank's customers who needed money could not access them, causing them great
inconvenience, he said.
Mr. Quansah appealed to management to relocate the bank before the main rainy season begins. "Who knows the extent of the rains this year? He asked and added that prevention was better then cure. "The bank needs a convenient
environment to work in", he stressed.
