Europe's air traffic control organization said Friday that Libya has closed its airspace to all
traffic.
"The latest information from Malta indicates that Tripoli (air control center) does not accept traffic," said the Eurocontrol.
The UN Security Council late Thursday adopted a resolution authorizing a no-fly zone over Libya and other measures to "protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack."
Meanwhile, Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim said after the UN decision that the country would positively react to the resolution.
In a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, Kaim said Libya would protect civilians across the country and ensure the supply of food and medicines.
Kaim said Libya welcomed articles in the resolution on the protection of civilians and Libya's national sovereignty and territorial
integrity.
He meanwhile called on other countries not to arm the rebel forces in Libya, saying otherwise that "will be inviting Libyans to kill each
other."
