Government has been commended for initiating the Rural Enterprise Project, which has helped in providing employment for some Ghanaians.
Mr John Bosco Azigwee, Acting Rector of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, made the commendation at a trade fair, organised by the Rural Enterprise Project at Navrongo, Upper East Region, which brought together 200 clients from the Regions to showcase their products.
He said with the introduction of the Project, some people, especially the youth, have now established their own enterprises with monetary support.
Mr Azigwee said that the Project would enable the country to achieve it Millennium Development Goals in poverty reduction since more jobs would be created, especially in the rural areas.
He said the event would serve as a big platform for participants to establish links with their colleagues to enable them to market their products.
Mr Azigwee asked participants to improve upon their products so that people in neibouring countries such as Burkina Faso, Togo and Ivory Coast could patronise them.
He stated that the Bolgatanga Polytechnic would continue to partner with officials of the Project to train the youth to acquire knowledge, skills and right attitudes for business transactions.
The clients praised the organisers of the fair and said they have established contacts with other exhibitors, which would help them to sale their products in the Regions of the country.
The Kassena Nankana East District Chief Executive, Mr Emmanuel Andema, commended officials of the Project, which he said has helped to reduce unemployment.
