There were no gainers or losers at the session as trade activity slowed because of the just ended Easter holidays. Consequently, the benchmark index closed at the previous level of 2,391.97 with a -7.01% year-to-date return while market capitalization stayed at GH¢59.30 billion.
Sector indices also remained unchanged. The GSE Financial Index closed at 2,050.08 with a -4.81% year-to-date return while the SAS Manufacturing Index closed at 4,559.72 with a -2.01% YTD return.
MTN Ghana (MTNGH) dominated trades by volume, accounting for 89.92% of total volume traded while Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) accounted for 58.47% of total value traded. Trading activity weakened with 166,822 shares valued at GH¢349,365 changing hands from 144,651 shares valued at GH¢608,139 at the previous session.
We expect trading activity to increase as investors take advantage of bargain stocks.
