Oak Plaza Hotel has been adjudged the best three-star hotel at the just-ended Greater Accra Regional Tourism Awards.
This was the third time the hotel had won this particular award.
Oak Plaza Hotel-Accra was cited for its outstanding achievements in the development and promotion of tourism in the Greater Accra Region and the country as a whole.
It was also deemed to have distinguished itself by its friendly staff and impeccable facilities that offer comfort, convenience and relaxation.
The following staff were present to receive the award on behalf of the hotel: the General Manager, Daniel Dadson; the Group Financial Controller, Satish Siriki; the Sales & Marketing Manager, Joseph Dzidzor-seye Anthonio, and Food and Beverage Manager, Brenda Ratidzo Ushe.
This year’s event, held on the theme: “Celebrating Innovation and Recognising Excellence in Ghana’s Tourism Sector”, gave out over 25 competitive and honorary awards to individuals and organisations that have made enormous contributions to the growth of the tourism industry in Ghana.
The selection of awardees was based on a set of criteria, including innovation and excellence, appreciable degree of customer service and quality of staff, general appeal of facilities, sustainability of business and adherence to industry rules and regulations.
The management of the hotel thanked the organisers of the award, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), for consistently acknowledging the hard work of stakeholders in the industry.
“We also want to dedicate this award to our loyal and prospective clients for their support over the years and to assure all our stakeholders that the hotel would not rest on its laurels but continue to offer and give out their best for their large clientele,” the hotel said in a statement.
The hotel was established over 20 years ago as a 12-bedroom facility at East Legon-Accra. In 2009, the East Airport branch came on board with 81 rooms, including two suites, 22 deluxe rooms and 57 standard rooms.
The brand is currently expanding its top-of-the-range facility, named Oak Plaza Suites, in Asokwa, Kumasi.
Oak Plaza Suites, which began operations in 2017, has 50 suites and is expected to be the most preferred product in the Ashanti Region when the expansion is completed with 100 suites.
