MultiChoice Africa, operators of pay television platform DSTV have confirmed that its “We Got You” campaign, which automatically upgrades subscribers to higher packages at no extra cost, will run for only three months, from October 1 to December 2025, and is subject to quarterly review.
This clarification directly contrasts with earlier assurances by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, who on Monday announced the arrangement as a permanent value boost with no timeline, except for future price reviews in consultation with the National Communications Authority (NCA).
“MultiChoice Africa has committed to implement an increased value offer only in Ghana, and I repeat only in Ghana, which will result in Ghanaian DStv subscribers getting more services for less,” the Minister said, stressing that depending on the bouquet, subscribers would enjoy between 33 and 50 per cent more value.
Under the offer, Padi subscribers paying GH¢59 will be upgraded to Access worth GH¢99, Access subscribers at GH¢99 will move to Family valued at GH¢190, Family subscribers paying GH¢190 will be boosted to Compact at GH¢380, Compact subscribers will move to Compact Plus worth GH¢570, and Compact Plus customers at GH¢570 will enjoy the full Premium bouquet priced at GH¢865.
However, in its official release, MultiChoice Ghana stated the promotion will last until December 2025, after which the arrangement will be reviewed. At the same time, the company launched the DStv Premium Competition, which will run from 1 October to 15 December 2025, offering ten winners tickets, flights and accommodation to watch English Premier League matches in January 2026.
The disparity between the government’s claim of a permanent restructuring and MultiChoice’s description of a promotional campaign lasting three months has raised questions about how long Ghanaian subscribers can expect to enjoy the extra value.
