Northern Business Fair a bold step for regional growth

The Member of Parliament for Yendi, Abdul-Fatawu Alhassan, has commended Channel One TV and Citi FM for the initiative to host the Northern Business Fair 2025 in Tamale, describing it as a significant step toward boosting economic growth in the northern sector.

The two-day fair, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Tamale Sports Stadium, is expected to turn the Northern Region into a vibrant hub for trade, innovation, and collaboration.

Powered by Channel One TV and Citi FM, the fair will serve as a one-stop marketplace for Made-in-Ghana products, showcasing the creativity and enterprise of small and medium-sized businesses, startups, research institutions, and indigenous brands from across the five northern regions — Savannah, Northern, North East, Upper East, and Upper West.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, October 22, the Yendi MP applauded the organisers for their commitment to promoting local businesses and stimulating growth in the North.

“I think it’s a step in the right direction. I want to urge you and other like-minded organisations to go into that field,” he remarked.

Mr. Alhassan expressed optimism that under President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, the North would witness marked improvement in development and infrastructure.

“The Northern sector has been left behind for far too long. There must be some deliberate efforts. I’m very optimistic that at the end of President John Dramani Mahama’s four-year term, there will be some significant improvements in terms of the North as a unit of development. We have, for far too long, undermined the potential in the North. We have not given the North the attention it deserves. The state must lead in this regard,” he added.
