MTN Ghana has held its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at the Accra International Conference Centre, bringing together customers, partners, staff, and invited guests for an evening of music, scripture, reflection, and celebration to mark the Christmas season.
The event, which has become a key fixture on MTN Ghana’s festive calendar, blended biblical readings, choral music, dance, and live performances with reflections on love, wisdom, and generosity, in keeping with the spiritual significance of Christmas.
In a video message Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Steven Blewett, expressed appreciation to customers and stakeholders for their loyalty throughout the year, describing them as central to the company’s journey and success.
He noted that MTN Ghana is committed to creating shared value by supporting local communities, strengthening environmental and social stewardship, and placing customers at the heart of its operations. Mr. Blewett highlighted the company’s recent introduction of a biodegradable SIM card, describing it as a step toward addressing plastic waste and reinforcing MTN’s sustainability agenda. He also encouraged patrons to embrace the Christmas season as a time for reflection, family, and generosity.
The lessons were read by selected individuals, reflecting MTN Ghana’s commitment to inclusion and national unity. They included Mr Franklin Sowah of Graphic Communications Group Limited; Mr Charles Oquaye, a former staff of Scancom PLC; Mr Edwin Ofosu, a third-year student at the University of Ghana and member of the Ghana Blind Union; Madam Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications; Superintendent (Rtd) Effia Tenge, Director of Public Engagement at the Parliament of Ghana; His Royal Majesty King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III, Nungua Mantse and President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs; Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, Head Coach of the Black Starlets (U-17); media personality Anita Akuffo, and Mr George Ayisi, Head of Sales at Labadi Beach Hotel.
The sermon was delivered by Fr. Ebenezer Botchwey, Assistant Priest at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, who urged patrons to embrace love, wisdom, and decisive action, drawing from the biblical account of the wise men in Matthew Chapter Two. He emphasized that true wisdom lies not only in knowledge but in the ability to put knowledge into practice, calling on individuals to make deliberate choices that reflect generosity, humility, and faith.
Fr. Botchwey also encouraged guests to choose joy over worry, to worship sincerely, and to give selflessly, noting that these actions remained relevant in a modern world shaped by technology and artificial intelligence.
The evening was further enlivened by musical and dance performances, including choral renditions by MTN’s Viva Voices, a dance performance by Ghana’s Dance With Purpose (DWP), and live performances from Joe Mettle, Kuami Eugene, and Kofi Kinaata, which drew enthusiastic responses from the audience.
As part of the celebration, MTN Ghana rewarded several patrons with gift prizes, including football jerseys, smartphones such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Google Pixel and Samsung devices, Apple Watches, and JBL headsets, among others.
