The enhanced value packages for DSTV subscribers in Ghana, which saw customers moved to higher-tier bouquets at their existing subscription rates, have been confirmed as remaining in effect.
The decision was announced in a press release issued by the National Communications Authority (NCA) on December 31, 2025, on behalf of the stakeholder committee evaluating DSTV pricing.
According to the release, the committee, chaired by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, noted that the improved packages "were duly implemented as announced and REMAIN IN FORCE."
The authority reported that the market responded positively to the increased value, leading to a significant rise in subscriptions.
The restructuring, which took effect from October 1, 2025, operates on a graduated upgrade system.
Under the offer, subscribers on the Padi package, who were paying GH¢59, were upgraded to the Access bouquet, ordinarily valued at GH¢99. Those on the Access package at GH¢99 were moved to the Family package worth GH¢190.
Furthermore, Family subscribers paying GH¢190 were boosted to the Compact package priced at GH¢380. Customers on the Compact package were upgraded to Compact Plus, valued at GH¢570, while those on Compact Plus at GH¢570 began receiving the full Premium bouquet, which carries a standard price of GH¢865.
The committee, which includes representatives from the Ministry, the NCA, and Multichoice, is also broadening its focus. It stated it is now "collaborating with other agencies including the Cybersecurity Authority to curb internet streaming piracy of pay TV content." The release highlighted the negative impacts of piracy, citing "loss of tax revenue, loss of revenue to the creative industry and increases consumer security risks to malware and phishing schemes."
A working group will continue engagements to ensure mutual commitments to these objectives are met.
The NCA, established by the National Communications Authority Act, 2008 (Act 769), is the statutory body responsible for licensing and regulating electronic communication services in Ghana.
