100 subscribers of Glo Mobile Ghana have secured free tickets to attend the 2012 edition of the prestigious Glo-CAF African Footballer of the Year Awards ceremony, to be held in Accra on December 20 2012.
The African communications giant, Globacom Limited, who is the sponsor of the annual Glo-CAF Awards announced last November it was setting aside 250 special invitation slots for its active customers and subscribers to attend the awards ceremony and sponsor two out of that number on an all expense paid trip to Dubai.
A statement issued in Accra on Thursday said the special tickets were available to all active Glo Mobile Ghana pre-paid and post-paid customers and to qualify for selection, pre-paid subscribers must have simply recharged their Glo lines cumulatively to the tune of GHȼ35 from November 15 to December 15 while postpaid subscribers must have talked cumulatively for GHȼ100.
It said the ultimate prize of two all-expense-paid tickets to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates would be randomly picked from among qualified postpaid subscribers through a lucky dip conducted at the venue of the Glo CAF Awards.
The statement noted that the Glo Customer Care Department announced that since the promotion commenced on November 15, one hundred subscribers have so far qualified for invitation and are already being contacted to claim their invitation tickets to the Glo-CAF Awards gala at designated Glo outlets.
"As a strong African brand, we at Glo are delighted at this rare opportunity of bringing our cherished Ghanaian subscribers under the same roof and within arm's length of the superstars, icons and headliners of Africa’s most popular sport," Mr Derek Obuobi, Head of administration at Glo Mobile Ghana said.
This year's ceremony would feature a variety of music, dance , comedy and magic including an all-Africa star cast, Mali’s Salif Keita, Nigeria's enigmatic masked performer, Lagbaja, South Africa's Yvonne Chaka Chaka and her world famous a chapella-singing compatriots - Ladysmith Mambazo have been lined up to entertain guests at this year's gala.
CAF last week announced a final shortlist of three top African footballers as nominees for the coveted African Footballer of the Year Award, naming previous winners Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast, Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast and Alex Song of Cameroon as the contenders for the 2012 award.
