It took the intervention of the security officers detailed to maintain law and order to calm things down and prevent any escalation.    The Presiding Officers at those centres confirmed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that those with valid voter identification (ID) cards but could not trace their names in the register would vote.

Some of the affected people expressed disappointment and threatened to boycott the election.    Except for this challenge, everything has so far gone well. Voting materials were delivered to the centres on time as the people queued up to cast their ballot.

At all the polling centres visited by reporters covering the polls under the “GNA Tracks Election 2016,” project, funded by Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL), the nation’s foremost indigenous oil marketing company, and CIMG 2015 Petroleum Company of the Year, political party agents were there, making sure everything goes well.
