GHANA and Nigeria have had collaborations in various areas and one area which has been very successful is in entertainment where events like Ghana meets Naija, has brought acts from both countries together to work important projects.
Its success has inspired another Ghanaian/Nigerian union, this time in choral music with the first Ghana Meets Naija Choral Music show scheduled for the Calvary Baptist Church at Circle, Accra on Sunday, September 22.
The event, according to the president of the Choral Musicians Union of Ghana, George Edzie whose company, Geonaa Music Consult, is putting together the show, was a good initiative to highlight the patronage and growth of choral music in both countries.
He said as is being witnessed in Ghana, Nigeria was breaking boundaries with choral music and the upcoming event was the right platform to celebrate the achievements of both countries.
“Ghana and Nigeria have done many collaborations so this is not new. However, what makes this different is that this time the collaboration is about real choral music and that is a victory for players like myself who are happy about the progress of choral music in not just the two countries but in Africa," he said.

George Edzie said the event, which is in partnership with the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana and Nigerians living in Ghana, is also aimed at promoting unity among choral groups in both countries.
Groups to participate in this first Ghana meets Naija Choral Music show are Lagos City Chorale, One Voice Choir, Vocal Essence Chorale and VGMA 2019 Best Group, Bethel Revival Choir.
“The Lagos City Chorale is one of the most outstanding choral groups in Nigeria with several international awards to their name and patrons are assured of a good performance from them,” George stated.
