NEWS of media personality, MzGee’s, departure from Multimedia to Media General took a lot of people by surprise. The one thing that surprised no one, however, is how hard she has worked over the years to earn her space in the industry.

And for MzGee, who juggled duties across the Multimedia platforms, from Joy FM, Hitz FM, Joy Prime (Gee Spot) and even online, she is reaping the benefits of her hard work over the years with her move to Media General, where already she hosts Mentor Reloaded and Showbuzz on 3FM.

 “I was called, I was approached, I was invited and I was chased, I never wrote a letter or went there to seek employment from anyone. To me, it makes me happy that my work has made such a mark that someone will desperately need my services,“ she told Graphic Showbiz.

Having done a lot for Multimedia as far as entertainment is concerned, MzGee told Graphic Showbiz that her expectations at Media General are few while her employers are hoping she will make a great impact.

“I do not really have a lot of expectations from them except to give me the good environment to work. However, they expect a lot from me, which is that I keep giving them exclusives like I am known for.

“I am expected to shine the light on their brand as I have done for Multimedia. I believe there is a reason I was hired and that is what I have to live up to,” she disclosed.

MzGee also shared her thoughts on the entertainment industry, saying its potential was being slept on.

“We have not projected ourselves well as industry people to attract support from the powers that be. People are playing with the industry, an industry that is a million-dollar one.

“The people we entrusted our power to are playing politics with the industry and it doesn’t look good.

The pressure groups on the other hand too have not positioned themselves well enough to get that recognition; they are rather showing themselves instead of showcasing content to attract the right people,” she said.

Apart from her hosting duties on Mentor and Showbuzz, MzGee is set to host new shows on radio and TV and asked her fans to watch out for her because she’s got good things planned for them.

“I have great things for them, I will be giving them more juicy stories, great content, revealing stories and I am ready to take up challenges that will come my way,” she said.

MzGee, who is Gloria Akpene Acquah, in real life is not a new person to Media General. In 2008, she was a contestant on Hottest Host on TV3 while between 2009 and 2010, she worked there as an intern.
