Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III has signed a law that promotes the welfare of household workers, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Act No. 10361 or "An Act Instituting Policies for the Protection and Welfare of Domestic Workers" was passed on Jan. 18 this year.
The law will take effect 15 days after its publication in the print version of the Official Gazette and newspapers for general circulation.
The law provides the setting up of a minimum wage and other benefits for some two million domestic workers in the country.
