Two brothers who beat up an auto mechanic resulting in injuries were on Thursday sentenced to three months in prison each by the Asamankese Circuit Court.
Jonas Tetteh, 25, and Solomon Tetteh, 22, who pleaded not guilty to harming Kwaku Twum Ampofo were also fined a total of GHC 600 Ghana cedis or to serve nine months in jail in default
Additionally, the court ordered them to pay GHC 250 each to the victim as compensation.
Richard Mensah, charged with the convicts, was acquitted and discharged for lack of evidence.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Nyonator said on November 23, 2008 Ampofo, was working on the clutch of a vehicle by the road side left a door of the vehicle open.
He said the three persons who were riding a motor cycle at top speed banged the door which pressed the complainant against the vehicle.
The three stopped their motor bike and Ampofo, who knew Jonas Tetteh, questioned him about their behaviour but Jonas got offended and slapped him.
The prosecutor said Solomon Tetteh joined Jonas to beat up Ampofo who sustained injuries on his nasal bridge and lips.
Someone rescued Ampofo and made a report to the police and a medical form was issued to him to attend the Suhum Government Hospital.
He was referred to the Koforidua Central Hospital from where he was later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for surgery on the nose.
