A circuit court at Agona Swedru has granted 22,000 Ghana Cedis bail with three sureties to Nana Kofi Sekyi Ababio, II, Chief of Gomoa Okwahu, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old school girl.
Nana Ababio, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear at court on April 13.
Police Chief Inspector H.N. Coffie, told the court presided over by Mr. Nathaniel K.Osam that the victim, lived with her mother's sister at Okwahu in the Gomoa West District, in the Central Region.
He said on 10 January, 2008, about 2030 hours, the Chief asked the girl to buy him bread and when she returned with the bread, Nana Ababio asked her to send it to his room.
Chief Insp. Coffie told the court that when the girl entered the room, Nana Ababio had sex with the victim, who claimed that the Chief had earlier used the same ploy to have sex with.
The Prosecution said on 15 January, 2008, the victim's mother madam Mary Sekyi, released that the victim was walking unsteadily.
Chief Insp. Coffie said when the mother questioned the daughter about the abnormally, she told her mother that Nana Ababio had sex with her.
The Prosecution said the Chief was arrested by the Police at Gomoa Dawurampong and subsequently sent to the Domestic Violence Victim and Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service at Agona Swedru.
Chief Insp. Coffie said a medical report indicates that the girl had been defiled.
