The National Co-ordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Alhaji Sulemana Abdul- Rahaman on Wednesday refused to comment on media reports that he has been relieved of his post.
"No comments," he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra.
However a source at the GSFP told the GNA that the co-ordinator was being used as a scapegoat to stall the mechanisms he has put in place to combat corruption and other mal administration.
The source produced documents, which indicated that Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman was in the process of inaugurating District Implementation
Committees of the GSFP in the 10 regions to check the siphoning of money meant for the programme.
"There has been undue pressure on my boss to bend the rules from highly placed personalities. Others are not happy that during his tenure of office the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) indicted three officials for financial and administrative irregularities.
" Mr Emmanuel Donkor, Senior Accountant, Kwame Nuakoh, Technical Advisor of the programme and Mrs Levina Owusu of the Ministry of Local
Government and Rural Development have been summoned over financial lapses by the SFO and Alhaji Abdul-Rahman had no hand in it.
"In fact the process started before his appointment," he said.
The source said during the short tenure of Alhaji Rahaman the World Food Programme donated a pick up, three motor bikes and three computers to
boost the operations of the GSFP in appreciation of the able manner he was handling his assignments.
Mr Joseph Yieleh- Chireh, Local Government Minister announced the dismissal of the co-ordinator, which took effect on Monday, April 20, attributing the decision to impropriety.
He was asked to hand over to the Deputy Co-ordinator of the programme.
