Smile Train, an international Child-oriented non-governmental organisation (NGO), based in Nigeria, presented a cheque of US$43,000 to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), in support of its' Cleft Clinic.
Mr. Remi Adeseun, the NGO's West Africa Regional Director, presented the cheque to Mrs. Patience Yeboah Ampong, Director of Nursing Services at KATH, on Tuesday in Kumasi.
Mr. Adeseun said that $32,000 of the amount was to be used for purchasing of a 33-seater bus to facilitate outreach programme of the Clinic and $8,000 would be used to support activities of the medical team working at the Clinic.
He said the NGO was committed to bringing relief and comfort to the needy and poor, especially children.
Mr. Adeseun commended the Cleft team for its contribution to health care delivery.
Professor Peter Donkor, Head of the Clinic, said the facility being the only such service provider in the northern sector of the country, needed support from individuals and organisations to enable it to deliver good quality health care to the people.
Mrs. Yeboah Ampong commended the NGO for contributing to the development of health in the country.
