The passengers and crew of an Emirates Flight from Dubai to Kochi had a close escape when it suddenly fell over 200 feet after hitting an air pocket over Goa air space on Sunday.
Though the aircraft, with 350 passengers, 11 cabin crew and three pilots landed safely in Kochi in the southern Indian state of Kerala, about 20 passengers and some crew members suffered minor injuries in the incident.
The aircraft was reportedly flying at an altitude of about 35,000 feet over Goa air space in west India when it hit the air pocket. The pilots immediately took it down by about 200 feet.
The shocked passengers did not get enough time to put on the seat belts and were thrown around inside the plane. The passengers recalled that many of them were screaming and shouting fearing that the aircraft was crashing.
