Ms Nyarkor Darko-Ampem, a Student of Central University College, has been crowned "Face of Black's Secret 2010", making her the face-model and spokesperson for Black's Secret range of make-up products.
Ms Darko-Ampem, who displayed exceptional talent in the individual performance segment as well as a high sense of intelligence, during mission statement presentations, beat 13 other contestants at the grand finale on Sunday in Accra, to clinch the coveted crown.
For emerging tops, Ms Darko-Ampem makes history as the first winner of the maiden event, organized by Berlin Investments Limited, a Ghanaian owned company, dealing in make-up range of products.
For her prize, she took home a brand new KIA CERATO Saloon car, GHc6,000 annual allowance, and is also entitled to Black's Secret make-up
products for a year, a brand endorsement contract for a year and other prizes from sponsors.
Ms Geraldine Partington and Ms Jasmine Nkrumah, both students of the
University of Ghana, who emerged first and second runners-up respectively, also took home GHc 1500 and GHc 1000, including other consolation prizes from the sponsors.
The rest of the contestants, who received consolation prizes from sponsors and make-up products from the company, also stand the chance of being involved in advertisements of Black's Secret make-up brand.
Berlin Investment Limited, in January this year, launched the model search event, which was in line with its commitment to using local materials to build its emerging international brand of make-up products.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency shortly after being crowned, Ms Darko-Ampem said her immediate plans was to educate women on the dangers of bleaching and the need to use Black's Secret products, which gives a natural appeal to skins of all types and colour.
Mr Bernard Kingsley Annoh, Chief Executive of Berlin Investments Limited said he was happy at the overwhelming endorsement that the company's
range of products had received from not only in Ghana but all over the world, adding that, "this is the beginning of yet another Ghanaian success
story".
Mr Annoh said, in the course of the year, the company would introduce other products to solve the beauty needs of black African women and women of colour.
He said the company would also, later this year, begin training interested persons in make-up artistry and beauty therapy, to enable them to
open their own shops.
Berlin Investments Limited officially launched its operations in the country late last year with the introduction of make-up range of products, including Crème to Powder Foundation, Pressed Powder, Loose Powder, Eyeshadow, Mascara and Liquid Foundation.
