The Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Mr S.K Sarpong Appiah, has remanded a businessman into prison custody for allegedly stealing a Mercedes Benz Salon Car.
Francis Kwadwo Yeboah, 32, whose plea was not taken would re-appear on May 14, 2010.
Police Detective Inspector Adu Ofori, told the court that the complainant, Oswald Nartey, is a police officer, while the accused is a businessman.
On May 4, the complainant parked his unregistered Mercedes Benz saloon car at a military barracks behind the Ashanti Regional Police Administration and left for work.
When he returned, the car could not be found and therefore a police wireless message was sent across the country to look for it.
The prosecution said later the same day, the police received information that the car was heading towards Konongo and quickly dispatched men to intercept it.
He said the police caught up with Yeboah at Bomfa-Nkwanta on the Kumasi-Accra highway but he made a quick "u-turn" and sped towards Bomfa.
The prosecution said a message was therefore sent to the police at Peminase to mount a road block, which they did.
He said the accused drove through the barrier without stopping, forcing the police to fire at the car.
He said, sensing danger, Yeboah abandoned the car and fled into a nearby bush but was arrested with the assistance of the people in the community.
