Isaac Mensah, a chainsaw operator who threatened the life of a magistrate court judge and the court registrar at Nsoatre, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment in hard labour by a Fiapre Circuit Court 'B '.
Mensah pleaded guilty with an explanation to threat of death and unlawful damage to the court.
Detective Lance Corporal Ebenezer Darkwa of the Nsoatre police told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the Nsoatre magistrate court imposed a fine of GHC 120 on the convict for assaulting Madam Abenaa Frimpongmaa, a trader.
He said on May 17, whilst the court was on sitting, Mensah went to the premises with a cutlass and threatened to kill Mr. Frank Gbedey, the judge and Mrs. Florence Serwaa, the registrar.
Detective Darkwa said Mensah entered Mr. Gbedey's chamber and destroyed his chairs and also destroyed four louver blades and mosquito nets in the registrar's office.
Mensah went back to the court on May 18 and threatened to kill the judge and he was arrested.
