MNET AND CHANNEL O SUPPORTS RITA MARLEY
Multichoice Ghana, on behalf of MNet and Channel O, donated a fully installed HD PVR decoder to Rita Marley, the wife of the late Bob Marley
as a sign of support after the ultra-modern music recording studio she was building in Aburi in the Eastern Region had been gutted by fire recently.
The cause of the fire is unknown but sources close to Mrs. Marley say it may have been caused by an electrical fault.
The multi-million-dollar studio - also the store house of most of Bob Marley's original tapes - was due for commissioning late last year but the
event had to be postponed to allow Mrs. Marley to attend to some personal issues in the USA, sources say. The incident is perhaps one of the most tragic happenings to have rocked the reggae world as, according to sources, the studio was going to be one of the great symbols of the Rastafarian fraternity.
Rita Marley established the Rita Marley Foundation and set out to carry on the legacy of her late, great, husband, Bob Marley by creating a recording studio. It has been almost ten years in the making, but undoubtedly a labor of love rather than a labor of necessity. The studio
was being fine tuned to soon play host to the world's most renowned entertainers, while offering West African artists, a world class studio from which to launch their works. Mrs. Marley also established a Health Care Center in the same village as her villa. She plans to promote wellness through a sound practice of living. The Center will serve as a respite to those in the village.
MNet recently broadcast a documentary on DStv on the legend Bob Marley, as part of its African Stories for African month, and it seemed only
fitting that a gesture of support be made by the 2 channels that promote African music and music influenced by Bob Marley, across the continent.
Channel O supports local artistes by flighting their videos on a continental platform. Artistes should contact the Multichoice office to pick up a release form and to submit their videos.
Channel O can be found on channel 320 on DStv and MNet is on channel 102 on DStv. DStv recently launched 4 High Definition channels on channel 170
[MNet HD], 171 [SuperSport HD], 172 [Discovery HD] and 173 [ i-concert HD].

to tune into DStv channel 110 for a rescreening of the popular television series starting June 17 at 21:30 CAT.
A sensuous and attention grabbing sitcom, SEX & THE CITY became one of the most watched sitcoms of all time from the 90's and well after 2000. The
storyline revolves around four, young, very desirable and virtually inseparable New York bachelorettes.
They are best friends who confide in each other regarding anything and everything that happens in their lives.
The lead character, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is the charming petite columnist of a leading New York magazine and is often the narrator of the story.
The other characters in the story include Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), an ambitious red haired lawyer who is determined to do well professionally
as well as she would do in love. Then there is Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), a gallery manager who comes from a rich family and has high
old-fashioned moral standards for her lovable but insecure self. The fourth member of the foursome is every feminist's hero, Samantha Jones
(Kim Cattrall). She is the unashamed voice of her friends' state of mind and is a PR agent.
The most dominant male figure in the series is Carrie Bradshaw's love interest, Mr Big, played by Chris Noth.
Another attribute that brought much attention to SEX & THE CITY was Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe. She became more than just part of the cast and just another character; she became an icon of fashion.
The success of the television series led to a much anticipated release of a movie which was released in 2008. In the 2008 release the storylines revolves around Mr Big and Carrie Bradshaw planning to put an end to their
long term relationship and making it official, they get married.
Returning to M-Net series in season six of the hit television series, viewers are invited to tune in and catch the awesome foursome doing their
thing in New York. They experience love, heartbreak, explore topics like fashion, men, motherhood and their sexuality as women.
