The Kwabre District branch of Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) has launched a tax education campaign to encourage its members to honour their taxes to the Government.
The association has been holding public forums and workshops in the various circuits to explain and help them to have better understanding of the full implication of non-compliance with their tax obligations.
Mr Osei Bonsu, the Vice Chairman, said they were determined to ensure that private school owners lived up to their responsibilities.
He said it was important they all accepted to submit regular tax returns and pay Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions.
A Compliance Officer at the Asafo SSNIT District Office, Mr Kwasi Woode, said it was mandatory for all employers to register their employees with the Trust.
This, he said, is meant to guarantee a sound and secure future for the workers.
He said school proprietors who refuse to pay SSNIT deductions of their employees would be prosecuted because social security was compulsory under the country's laws.
