The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District, has granted bail to a farmer who allegedly stole a cat to prepare a meal and threatening the life of his wife for disclosing the act.
Kwadwo Appau alias Wakiki, who pleaded not guilty to stealing, threat of death and causing unlawful damage was granted GH�500.00 bail to reappear on July 21.
Police Inspector Kwaku Antwi told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that the complainant, Mr Nicholas Kwame Aboagye, is a revenue collector and lives in the same house at Akim Apoli with the second complainant and wife, Madam Akua Serwaa.
He said Mr Aboagye packed his belonging and moved into his new building, but decided to pick his cat later.
At about 2000 hours on June 15 Appau killed the cat for a meal and warned her wife, Madam Serwaa, not to disclose it to anybody but she
informed some elders in the community.
Inspector Antwi said the elders invited Appau and advised him to approach Mr Aboagye to confess the act but he rather became offended.
When Appau returned to the house, he picked his wife's slippers and cut them into pieces and also threatened her with a cutlass, but she managed to flee and made a report to the Police.
