The United Liberian Association in Ghana (ULAG), an association of Liberian residents in Ghana, on Monday donated assorted items to the inmates of Weija Leprosarium in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra Region.
It was to commemorate the 163th independence anniversary of Liberia and first anniversary of ULAG which fell on July 26.
The items worth GH1,500 included 10 bags of rice, five gallons of cooking oil, five boxes of toilet tissues, four bags of beans, three bags of maize and a box of energy saving bulbs.
Mrs. Julia Richards, President of ULAG, presenting the items, said it was ULAGs appreciation towards the people of Ghana for their kind gesture and peaceful co-existence with the Liberian community in the country.
It is also to compliment efforts of the people of Ghana in catering for the needy in the society, she added.
She noted that the organisation formed on July 26, 2009 was to address the challenges of Liberian residents in Ghana and support needy institutions in society.
ULAG is also aimed at harnessing the wealth of talents in our community and seek the welfare of members and others, she noted.
Mrs. Richards said ULAG also served as a platform which sought to resolve conflicts among the Liberian community and promote mutual respect and social harmony in the community.
Mr. George Quansah, Caretaker of Weija Leprosarium, receiving the items, expressed appreciation to ULAG for the gesture and urged other organisations to help the home.
