The National Hajj Committee on Monday fixed the fee for November 2010 Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia at 3,100 dollars per person or its equivalent in local currency to be paid by mid-October.
Alhaji Alhassan Bene, National Chairman of Hajj Committee told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that payment should be made through
Intercontinental Bank branches throughout the country or accredited Hajj Agents or through the National Hajj Board.
He explained that the slight increment from 2,900 dollars to the current 3,100 dollars was due to rise in air fare and other documentation
procedures, which were intended to make the November 2010 Hajj another remarkable pilgrimage.
Alhaji Bene encouraged would-be pilgrims to adhere to the deadlines for the payment of Hajj fares to ensure the smooth organisation of the event, �no payment would be entertained after the deadline�.
He assured government, the Moslem community and all stakeholders of the committee�s commitment to improve upon last year�s success which was
unprecedented in hajj organisation in the country.
Alhaji Bene called for cooperation from all stakeholders including pilgrims, Moslem opinion leaders and financial institutions to ensure that �we meet the deadlines�.
He urged pilgrims to deal with accredited agents, and where in doubt contact the national board for assistance, check for requirement of this
year�s hajj from the national board and imams to avoid any embarrassment during the processing.
