Personnel of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in the Bosomtwe District have donated blood to support the blood bank of the Pramso Saint Michael's Hospital.
This formed part of the NSS' week celebration in the area.
Mr Isaac Yaw Asamoah, a laboratory technician at the facility, encouraged more voluntary blood donations to help save lives.
He said some maternal deaths, for example, could be prevented given the availability of blood at the facilities.
Mr Clement Adu-Gyamfi, a staff of the Kuntanase Government Hospital, educated the volunteers on the H1N1 Flu, Hepatitis, breast cancer and other diseases.
He reminded them of the need to adhere to simple health practices, such as washing the hands with soap, to avoid contracting communicable diseases.
They should also stay away from bad eating habits and other unhealthy lifestyles to stay stronger and live longer.
