Col Cyril Necku (Rtd), the Deputy Volta Regional
Minister, on Tuesday said the government would not sweep concerns of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) under the carpet.
You workers run the system and we politicians only supervise so we cannot joke with you especially CLOGSAG.
Be assured that the government, being a listening one, will address all your challenges no matter the situation, he said.
Col. Necku said this when members of the Association in the region presented a petition to him after a two-hour peaceful demonstration in Ho.
He said all workers were important and that government would give equal treatment to all.
He therefore urged the demonstrators to do away with their red bands and re-engage government in dialogue for a compromise.
Mr Samuel Danquah, Volta Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, alleged that some people in government were ill advising government on CLOGSAG and urged
government to be wary of such personalities.
He said statements allegedly attributed to Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, the Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, that CLOGSAG was formed with
funding from the New Patriotic Party was untrue.
Mr Danquah appealed to members of CLOGSAG to remain firm in the fight for their legitimate rights including the need to negotiate for 2010
salaries and conditions of service.
