In order to commemorate the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the Indian capital, New Delhi,a week-long 'low carbon fair' is being held here from Saturday.
Several activities promoting low carbon practices will be held during the initiative being organised by environment forum CMS Vatavaran in collaboration with the CWG's organising committee.
Seminars, workshops, open forum and panel discussions on several contemporary issues related to environment, climate change, sustainable technology and eco-tourism will be held till September 3, an official release said.
The activities also include an energy conservation marathon, a painting competition, an eco tour and an exhibition on climate change.
A green film festival would be inaugurated by
Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary on Wednesday, the statement said.
During the film festival, more than 30 award winning films on environment and wildlife will be screened over a period of three days.
The inaugural film at the festival will be 'The Wild Meat Trail' by Rita Banerji and Shilpi Sharma.
Individuals who have made significant contributions in the field of environmental conservation will be felicitated during the inaugural ceremony.
