Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, said contributions towards the socio-economic development of the region were always welcomed from members of the public.
He said it was an indisputable fact that government alone could not meet all the desires of the citizenry, hence contributions from individuals and organizations were necessary to complement government's efforts to better the lot of the people.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo gave the assurance when speaking at the inauguration of Unity Fun Club, a charitable organisation at New Dormaa, a suburb of Sunyani on Sunday.
He said experience had shown that some members of fun clubs in the region had contributed immensely towards environmental cleanliness and other socio-economic needs.
The Regional Minister, accompanied by Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said he would give his utmost best to spur on members of such organisations whose agenda could bring development socially and economically.
Mr Bresi Andoh, Chairman of the Club, said it was formed in May this year and started with a handful of members but could now boast of a membership of 103 comprising 86 females and 17 males.
He explained that even though the club was based at New-Dormaa, membership was not limited to only the people in that area and called on interested persons from other parts of Sunyani to join it.
Other aims and objectives of the Club, Mr Andoh added, was to assist sick members financially and in kind, while aiding members during weddings, naming ceremonies and bereavement.
Executive members of the Club include; Mr Robert Abeka, Vice-Chairman, Mr Stephen Kpabitey, Secretary, Mr Benjamin Ricco, Financial Secretary, Mr Charles Darkwa, Treasurer and Ms Suweiba Abubakari, Organiser.
