The Deputy Chief Director of the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, Madam Juliana Amponsah, has called on the media to assist the ministry to educate the public on the Domestic Violence Act (DVA).
She made the call at a two-day media training workshop on the DVA organized by the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs for 30 journalists from the Western and Central Regions at Takoradi.
Madam Amponsah said the media could play a useful role in the public education of the DVA. And by doing so the incidence of domestic violence cases might reduce.
Madam Amponsah said the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs was organizing media training workshops on the DVA in all the 10 regions.
It was organising the program with support from the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana and the Ghana Journalists Association.
She urged journalists to increase their coverage on violence against women.
