Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Ntosoh, in charge of Nsawam Motor, Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service has asked drivers to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles.
He said they must also consider the safety of pedestrians and other road users especially during festive occasions.
ASP Ntosoh, who gave the advice on Monday at a forum for drivers at Nsawam in the Eastern Region stressed that lack of maintenance culture on vehicles, was a contributing factor to road accidents.
The forum was organised by officials of the Nsawam Ghana Private Road Transport Union of the Trade Union Congress to appraise drivers on the need to be safety-conscious during the yuletide.
ASP Ntosoh said 22 accidents were recorded in November, out of which 13 people sustained various forms of injuries with four fatal cases and three deaths.
