Mexico, Argentina and Paraguay on Tuesday extended their sympathy to New Zealand over the 6.3-magnitude earthquake which killed at least 75 people and caused heavy damage.
Mexico's Foreign Ministry expressed its "deepest consternation for the consequences of the earthquake" in a statement released on Tuesday.
Mexico also showed solidarity with the New Zealand government and the victims' families after the tragedy.
Mexico is ready to aid the New Zealand people and government at this difficult time, the statement said, adding that the Mexican Embassy in New Zealand is paying attention to the situation of Mexicans living in the affected area.
The Argentine Foreign Ministry also issued a statement on Tuesday expressing its sympathy, saying that the embassy in Wellington is offering consular assistance and is in permanent contact with Argentines in New Zealand.
Paraguay showed its solidarity with the New Zealand government and people after the earthquake in a statement released by its foreign ministry.
The strong earthquake hit New Zealand South Island's largest city of Christchurch Tuesday at 12:51 p.m. local time (2351 GMT Monday).
According to official statistics, at least 75 people died and about 100 more are trapped in the quake debris.
