The International Central Gospel Church’s (ICGC) annual life walk event ended successfully with the prospect of good health for the over 10,000 excited participants.
Led by Dr Mensah Otabil, the general overseer of the church, the participants, who came from all walks, endured some 18-kilometres
fatigue in a return trip, walking from their headquarters, the Christ Temple at Abbosey-Okai, through some principal streets in Accra for
about three hours.
Life walk, which was initiated seven years ago, is one of the main annual events on the ICGC’s calendar and is held simultaneously
in other parts of the country for the congregation and interested members of the public.
“Participating in life walk has been a very beneficial experience considering the health benefits and the fun and fellowship associated with it,”
Dr Otabil told journalists after the walk..
The theme for this year’s walk is: “Walk for Life.”
It is expected that each participant would burn come calories with those moving faster and longer being the greatest beneficiaries.
Dr Otabil noted that over the years, the church had committed itself to promoting and supporting the spiritual, physical and
emotional development of people.
“Our commitment extends also to supporting the social development of our communities and nation at large,” he added.
Through life walk and other special events, the church internally generates funds to support a number of institutions and communities, with the major beneficiaries being the Ghana Heart
Foundation, the Blood Bank and the Plastic Surgery Department of the Korle–Bu Teaching Hospital and Osu Children’s Home.
He lauded the institutions and companies which supported the walk and commended the church’s assemblies for their active participation across the country.
