Gifty Armah, a 29-year-old woman, died on the spot in a lorry accident, at CP, a settlement on the Elmina-Takoradi highway in the early hours of Sunday.
The Honda Civic Salon car was heading towards Cape Coast with the deceased and three other male passengers when it veered off its lane
and crashed headlong with an articulated truck.
The body of the woman had been identified and deposited at the Central Regional Hospital Mortuary while five others including the
drivers of the two vehicles, who the Police said were badly injured, were receiving treatment at the hospital.
Superintendent Joseph Haywood, the Elmina District Police Commander, told Ghana News Agency on Monday that the car being driven by Lawrence Ghartey, veered off its lane, around 0130 hours and crashed with the on coming articulated truck near the Elmina Beach Resort Junction.
He said the truck, which was being driven by Emmanuel Tetteh Dremano from Tekyiman in the Brong Ahafo Region heading and heading towards Takoradi, later exploded into flames.
Sup Haywood said the Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
