The Ghana office of the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), on Wednesday donated a 30-seater bus worth 65,000 dollars to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Training School in Tema.
The donation formed part of a package of assistance to be provided by the Japanese government through JICA under the Technical
Cooperation Project for capacity development of electrical engineers in African countries dubbed EETA.
Mr Jiro Inamura, Chief Representative of the Ghana office of JICA, who presented the keys of the bus to the Managing Director of ECG, Mr Anthony Gyampoh, recounted JICA’s support for the energy
sector in the country and hoped the gesture would help cement the existing cordial relation between his country and Ghana.
Mr Gyampoh thanked the Japanese government for her numerous assistance to Ghana and said the EETA project intended to strengthen ECG training capacity on distribution system operation and
maintenance.
He gave the assurance that the training school would be refurbished with basic infrastructure as a conducive environment would be created for the training of electrical engineers and artisans.
Mr Robert Sarpong, Principal of the School, assured the donors that the bus would be put to good use.
