Ukraine intends to raise 1.05 billion U.S. dollars for Chernobyl projects during a donor conference next week, Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloga said Wednesday.
"On April 19 an International donor conference of raising funds for Chernobyl recovery projects will be held in Kiev. We hope that foreign
investors will make additional aid for Chernobyl on it," Baloga told journalists after a government meeting.
The G8 countries, the European Commission and other investors will take part in the conference.
Ukraine expects they will give funds for completing the shelter facility and a new temporary spent fuel storage facility at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
According to the emergency minister, the constructions are scheduled to be completed till 2015. The total value of the work is over 1.4
billion dollars.
