Police are actively probing the case relating to the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor girl by upto 100 persons in connivance with her father,
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Tuesday.
"Strong steps will be taken against the culprits," Chandy told reporters here.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch SP, S Surendran, told PTI that police would move court seeking police custody of Tamil Nadu PWD contractor, Manikandan, who had allegedly sexually exploited the girl, to get more information about the matter.
The girl's father, who had also allegedly raped her and other accused, who all are lodged in Aluva sub-jail, would be questioned again, he said.
The sexual exploitation of the 14-year-old girl began during 2009 while she was studying in the 10th standard.
According to police, her mother was also arrested as she had suppressed the matter.
However, she is now out on bail.
The girl, who was being treated for venereal diseases at a government hospital here, has been discharged and is in a juvenile home and the District Medical officer of the General Hospital has been instructed to provide her all medical care, he said.
The minor had revealed her plight to a relative following which a police complaint was filed three months ago.
Police teams have already gone to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka besides various parts of Kerala to locate and arrest at least 70-odd accused who have gone underground after the matter came to light.
Police believe that there are 100-odd accused in the case.
So far 29 accused have been arrested. The victim has named some more persons and few more have to be identified, Surendran added.
