Professor Joshua Alabi, the Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Nana Opoku Ampomah, the Founder of the university, have been honoured at this year’s UPSA Alumni Association Dinner and Awards among 10 other personalities.
The association conferred on Prof. Alabi the ‘Platinum Man of the Year’ while Nana Ampomah received the “Founder’s Gold’ award. The awards ceremony was held on the theme: “Acknowledging Transformational Leadership in Contemporary Governance’. Mr Justice Nii Aryeetey, the first University Council Chairman, Reverend J.J. Martey and Prof. Goski Alabi, all of the UPSA received Transformational Leadership Gold awards.
Other personalities honoured were Mr Patrick Arkoli, the Managing Director of Goil Ghana Limited, who received the ‘Marketing Man of the Year,’ Mrs Gifty Ama Amoah, the General Manager of Capital Savings and Loans received ‘Silver Woman of the Year’ and Mr Francis Dadzie; ‘Most Benevolence Alumni of the Year’.
Mr Ransford Koranteng received the ‘Longest Serving Staff of UPSA’ and Mr John Serlome Kwame Agbenyo, Acting Head of Public Relations was honoured for the meritorious service to the university. The 2014/15 Year Group of the university presented a citation to Prof. Alabi for his dedicated service to the school.
Prof. Alabi commended the association for its foresight and urged the staff to work harder so that they would win laurels for themselves. Mr Arkoli charged the association to work hard to take the university to a higher level.
