Members of the Jomoro Development Association (JODA) based in the United States of America (USA) have cut the sod for the construction of a hostel for the Half-Assini Government Hospital.
The 10-room facility which is being funded by the association would be completed in two years. Mr Philip Ackah Koffi, Coordinator of the Association, who made this known to the media, said the facility would be furnished when completed.
He said the Association was motivated to undertake the project following similar projects being funded at the facility by Jomoro citizens based in Italy. Mr Koffi said on his last visit to the country in 2014, he visited the hospital and was impressed with the new children's ward funded by their compatriots in Italy.
He said in this regard, he contacted the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Jonathan Mensah, who mentioned the hostel, Emergency and Accident Ward as some of the major needs of the Hospital. He said the association decided to take up the hostel project since the Emergency and Accident Ward was being executed by Eni-foundation, an Oil Company operating in the Jubilee Field.
Mr Koffi appealed to natives of Jomoro District living in the USA to contribute generously towards the project to ensure that it is completed on schedule. The project, when completed, would provide decent accommodation to relatives of patients who would be admitted at the hospital.
