Mallam Abdul Hakim Abubakar, a teacher and a Laboratory Technician, has raised concerns about the provocative manner in which Muslim youths dress to expose some parts of their flesh to the world.
Mallam Abubakar who was speaking at Rashad Islamic school, where he teaches muslim children on the doctrines and practices of the Islamic religion said ‘’children used to be very shy, and for that matter find it difficult to dress in a deviant way, but now shyness is a thing of the past so they now dress to their best comfort’’.
He described the provocative dresses by some Muslim youths as un-Islamic and forbidden in Islam…”in years past it was very scarce to see a girl dressed half naked but now in the ‘modern’ system its’ very common in the society”.
The teacher attributed the emerging trend to lack of parental control as most “parents ignore their responsibilities and authority over their children and allow them to fend for themselves at youthful age.”
Mallam Abubakar added that friends could also be involved in the bad moral life of others through peer pressure, adding that this lifestyle was corrupting their moral life and affecting their prayer life as well.
He also blamed the emergence of social media for adding up to the deviant dressing of the Muslim youth. He said:”Majority of the youth who are addicted to social media are inclined to copy blindly the offensive dressing on the internet.”Mallam Abubakar admonished the youth to discard these anti-Islamic ways of life adding that “good name is better than riches” and in order to bare a good name, the youth should dress well to remove all doubts about them in the eyes of the public.
He added that busy parents should also endeavour to check on their children’s way of dressing.
