Hope for Future Generation (HFFG), a non-governmental organization, with focus on health has disinfested selected communities in the Ho Municipal area with support from Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
The project, under the Ho Municipal Malaria Advocacy Group (MMAG) was to reduce insect infestation in the catchment areas. At Takla, a farming community near Ho, the disinfestations team sprayed communal refuse dumps, drains and public toilets.
Mr Isaac Ablormeti, Head of Vector Control, Zoomlion, Volta Region, said the exercise would reduce cases of cholera, dysentery and malaria in the area. Ms Theodoria Akorfa Kunyegbe, Coordinator, Advocacy for Resources for Malaria Stoppage, HFFG said Takla was chosen because of the increasing cases of malaria in the community.
She said a similar exercise was done at Hodzo and would be extended to cover the Municipal area.
