The Ghana International Health Foundation, a non-governmental organization made up of Ghanaian Medical personnel in Canada, has donated medical equipment and consumables to the La General Hospital in Accra.
The 71 medical equipment and consumables of varying quantities were meant to help improve healthcare delivery at the La General Hospital.
The Ghana International Health Foundation delegation, which presented the items and consumables to the La General Hospital, was led by Mr Ben Squire, a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Other members of the delegation were Dr Harriet Somuah and Mrs Hannah Amankwah, a Principal Nursing Officer.
Mr Squire said the Ghana International Health Foundation believed the donation would go a long way to enhance patient care at the La General Hospital.
“We are indeed glad to have succeeded in bringing this first consignment to the La General Hospital. I say this because we have had logistic problems in the past,” he stated.
He said the aim of the Foundation was to seek the welfare of needy government hospitals in Ghana, source for the needs in Canada, and ship them down to those hospitals in Ghana.
“These donations are done with the knowledge of the Government of Canada to whom reports are sent annually,” he said.
An elated Mrs Joyce Ofori - Akyea, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services, La General Hospital, expressed gratitude to The Ghana International Health Foundation for the kind gesture.
She further appealed to other benevolent organisations, philanthropists and corporate entities to emulate the Foundation’s shining example.
