Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli and President of the National House of Chiefs has called on traditional authorities to monitor developmental projects to ensure works were properly done.
He said the core mandate of chiefs was the development of their areas and advised them to set up monitoring committees on public projects and programmes to ensure quality output. Togbe Afede was addressing a meeting of the Asogli Traditional Council in Ho.
He asked traditional rulers to portray the characteristic “warrior spirit” and support President Nana Akuffo-Addo’s fight against corruption. “Do not be afraid to live the truth or lead the fight against corruption”, he stated, and asked chiefs to endeavour to upgrade the quality and effectiveness of traditional authority.
Togbe Afede said government required each region to avail at least 3,000 acres of land for industrial parks and asked chiefs to welcome the initiative to develop their communities. He said measures were being put in place to modernize the Chieftaincy institution and called for support from all.
