Some residents in Accra on Tuesday lauded the previous and current governments for rolling out the street naming exercise.
The residents, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, noted that the development had enhanced one’s ability to locate places such as strategic institutions and the easy processing of documentation, which required residential addresses.
Mr Eugene Attoh, a Resident at Dansoman Last Stop, said the street naming was a good initiative, which helped people to easily locate unknown places.Miss Bernice Tetteh, a Fashion Designer in Dansoman, said it helped to give directions and made mapping within the country easier; and commended the former government for the initiative and the current one for continuing with the process.
Mr Danielson Kwame Klustey, the Chief Executive Manager of Hadatech Visions, said the initiative, which helped with easy identification of locations, would promote the operations of businesses as they could easily be located.
It would also ensure quicker response by emergency service providers such as the Fire Service and Police Rapid Response Team, he said.Mr Klustey, however, acknowledged that the issue of tax collection had been a major problem for some years now and expressed the belief that tax/revenue collections by the Ghana Revenue Authority and Electricity Company of Ghana, among others, would be significantly improved.
Ms Doris Amenyo, a resident at Pokuase-Odumase, said streets at Pokuase had not been named, making it difficult to give directions to the area. She, therefore, pleaded with the Government to extend the exercise to the area to enhance easy identification.
