The Fanteakwa North District of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), in collaboration with the Eastern Regional National Service Secretariat, have embarked on a campaign against drug abuse in the Fanteakwa District.

In a power point presentation at the Begoro Presbyterian Senior High School, the Eastern Regional President of the National Service Personnel, Mr Abdul Razak Masawood highlighted the dangers associated with drug abuse.
He said the rate at which young adults were losing their lives due to the use of illicit drugs was very alarming and called on students to desist from the use of illicit drugs. Mr Masawood revealed that, the abuse of tramadol, codeine and some other illicit drugs had the tendencies of destroying the brain cells of humans, which could result in death.
He advised the students to pay critical attention to their books and avoid negative attitudes that will ruin their lives, ‘Do not hesitate to contact the school authorities when you need help’ he told the students. Later in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the Fanteakwa NASPA Organizer, Mr Samuel Kweku Seidu said the campaign will be replicated in some schools in the district.
According to him, the youth were the target and the best place to engage them was in their schools, churches, mosques and in the communities. Mr Kweku Seidu also called on some benevolent organisations to assist the NASPA secretariat to combat the menace of drug abuse to help protect the future of the youth in the country.
